This week's session
Tap Monday or Wednesday below to see that day's plan. The full season is further down under The Plan.
Training location
We're at the Mud Creek complex, on the turf pad — Field 2. Our grids are highlighted below.
How every session runs
The same rhythm every Monday and Wednesday, so players always know what's next — but each day has its own fresh set of stations. Our 45 players split into 4 groups and rotate through them together.
Ball Mastery
Every player, a ball each. Juggling and ball-skill moves to warm up feet and eyes before we get to work.
Same start every sessionStations
Four stations built around the week's topic. Each takes a whole group (~11 players) and is set up for maximum touches — a ball each or several small groups working at once. Any drill with a line runs as several short lines of no more than 3, so nobody stands and waits. A parent-coach or two run each station and stay put; each group starts at its own coaches' grid and rotates clockwise to the next every 12 minutes.
4 × 12 min · ~11 per grid · built for max touchesSmall-Sided Games
We finish with four small-sided games at once — each group plays on its own grid, 5v5 or 6v6 depending on who's there. Real play where the day's skill shows up, and every child is always involved.
4 grids · 5v5 or 6v6Groups & Coaches
Our players train in four groups by age, each with its own coaches and colors.
These are the groups for now — they stay fluid, and players may move in and out of groups as the season goes. Any concerns, reach out to Nathan.

Shape — the 5v5 diamond
Our game-day shape is the diamond (a 1-2-1): a goalkeeper, one defender at the back, a left and a right midfielder holding the width, and a forward up top. It gives young players clear front / back / left / right zones and natural triangle passing angles.
| Why the diamond works | What it gives our players |
|---|---|
| Natural passing angles | Diagonal, triangular passing lanes instead of dangerous flat passes across the field. |
| Field width | Wide midfielders stretch the field, pull defenders apart, and open up space. |
| No sweeper trap | Avoids a static player stuck too deep — everyone gets more touches and stays involved. |
| Clear roles | An intuitive sense of front, back, left, and right zones for young players. |
| Future transition | The same triangles and positions carry over to 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11 later. |

Before you come
A few things that keep every session running smoothly for the little ones.
Let them decide
Please try not to instruct your child on what to do during play — where to run, when to pass, or how to solve a moment. At this age, learning to make their own decisions on the ball matters far more than getting it "right." A calm, quiet sideline gives them the freedom to read the game, take chances, and grow into confident, independent players. Encourage their effort and let the choices be theirs.
Cheer them on
The best sideline support at this age is simple: encourage effort, celebrate goals for both teams, and let the coaches coach. Every child plays every session.
Getting there
Please arrive 5–10 minutes early so we can start Ball Mastery on time. Walk your player to their group's coach and we'll take it from there.
